First Snow, First Snowman

On the way to football practice for Adam and Kevin

We walked around the lake out near where they have their football (soccer) practice last week to kill a few minutes before training got started.

Kevin's swimming course

Sorry about the long silence, I'll try and slowly recover the times missed out on. Here's Kevin's three week swimming course which was in October. Every weekday we had to take him to kindergarten at 7am, a minibus (or two in fact) took the kids to the pool, and they were back at school for breakfast around 9. Kevin is not as much a water frog as Bella is, but this course was at least good to give him some security also in the big pool. He enjoyed it but getting him up early was quite a challenge. I am very proud of him, and we were lucky he didn't get ill only on the last day, we went from the pool to the doctor's.

Autumn Germs

I don't want to add any pictures to the saga of our "ill week". It began on Wednesday when I went to see our doctor about my caugh that just didn't want to get better for two weeks. He said I shouldn't take caugh medicine, it'll just make my caugh worse. Instead he gave me antibiotics and Calcium and some allergy medicine. That night Bella got a stomach bug and we were up all night. On Thursday took her to the pediatrician and she said apart from the virus, she's got a sinus infection. The same day Kevin complained in the kindergarten that his ear was hurting, so Friday morning off we went again. The doctor said, his ear was only a little infected on the outer part from swimming, but he's also got a sinus infection. All this right before a four-day weekend and holiday coming up. Friday night it was Patrick who got the stomach flu, so we were up with him, and yeterday evening my stomach was hurting, spent the night up, slept most of the day today, and now Kimo's got it too. He went to bed after church this morning...So far only Kevin hasn't got the stomach bug yet, but I'm positive it won't leave him out. At least there's no school to worry about until Wednesday, we can just keep curing ourselves.

Game over

As I am writing this, my Dad's plane has already taken off towards Milan. It was two weeks packed with programmes, visits and special times together. This was the last game of chess he played with Kevin. The children were so happy with him around, enjoyed his true bedtime stories, games of cards and chess together, etc. They were suprised this morning when they got up not to find him in the living room. We already miss him. Oh, well, all goood times have to end sometime. We're very grateful he was able to come, and that he is in good health.

Treasure hunt on Sunday at the Caves

Since Patrick got for his birthday from Nagypapi a real metal detector we had to go and try it out. So we went for a long walk on Sunday afternoon to some caves in the forest near the border. And sure enough we found some treasures. An old axe head on the way and inside the cave lots of bullet shells and even one live round. I was scared, but the men said it was OK to touch it. The children were all excited, here's the past haunting you when you're hunting treasures...
