Pace and Peace

Thank God it's Friday, although it seems the week has gone by in a blink. Our life is definitely on a fast forward. With all the afternoon activities for the children, both of us working, concerts, cinema, friends to go to, it is a wonder we still talk to each other. One needs the time to sit back, listen, quiet one's thoughts, and yes: pray. I believe it is such a basic need in our life like breathing. Without prayer we would drown under all the weight of our activities.

I had a staff meeting on Wednesday afternoon, and because it is a Lutheran school, we begun our meeting with the Pastor reading and praying. He told us this story:

A woman was driving along, and stopped at a red light behind another car. The light changed, but the car in the front didn't move. The woman began waving at the driver, but no use. The car still didn't go. Then she began to curse and shout and honk, and give the finger to the man in the other car. Finally, as the light was turning yellow, the other driver "woke up" and got across, leaving the woman behind, who was even angrier now, beacuse the light changed to red again, and she was stuck.
The next thing she noticed was a gun pointing at her through the window, a policeman was telling her to get out. From her shock, seh was unable to speak, got out of her car, put her hand up, and without a word she was pushed into the police car. At the police station, they took away her things, and she was put in jail. After about an hour, the polceman came back, gave her belongings back to her and said: "I'm sorry about this mistake madam, but when I saw the following stickers: I'm a Christian; Come to Sunday School with me; and the metalic fish sign on the car, and saw what you were doing the only thing I was able to assume was that it was stolen."

Huh. We all felt touched there. And even though we lead a fast-paced life, we have to find time to reflect, and find peace. M
